Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome + Consultations

Why do I have to pay for a consultation?

Your consultation is more than a chat — it’s a professional skin assessment. You’re paying for the therapist’s time, expertise, and a personalised plan. It ensures your treatment is safe, effective, and tailored to your goals.

What do I get with the consultation?

You’ll receive a full skin assessment, professional recommendations, a treatment pathway, and home care guidance. It’s your chance to ask questions and understand exactly how we’ll support your skin journey.

Is the consultation redeemable?

Yes. Your consultation fee can be redeemed on treatment or product purchases made on the same day.

What happens if I have a reaction to the MelanoPro peel test patch?

Test patches are essential for safety — especially with advanced treatments like MelanoPro. If your skin reacts, it means the peel wouldn’t have been safe for you. The patch cost reflects professional product use and the therapist’s time, and it prevents a much bigger risk of a full treatment reaction.

Do I need a skin consultation before booking a treatment?

Yes. Especially if you’re new to Sibu Skin and Beauty, or considering advanced services like peels, needling or laser. It allows us to safely plan your treatment and ensure the best results.

What happens in a skin consultation?

Your therapist will review your skin history, current concerns, and lifestyle. We’ll assess your skin in-salon, answer questions, and outline a plan for treatment and home care.

How long does a consultation take?

Most consultations run for about 30 minutes, giving us time to assess, educate, and map out your skin journey.

Is a consultation suitable if I’m pregnant, breastfeeding, or new to professional treatments?

Absolutely. Consultations are designed for everyone. Your therapist will guide you through safe options and make sure you feel informed and confident before beginning treatment.

Sibu Signature Treatment FAQ – Canberra

What is the Sibu Signature Treatment?

The Signature Treatment is booked as a 50-minute session, but it isn’t about the minutes — it’s about the results. Your therapist uses that time to customise the treatment to your skin’s needs, ensuring you leave refreshed, balanced and glowing.

What if I don’t know what to book?

Book the Sibu Signature. If you’re unsure which facial is right for you, this is the safest place to start. Your therapist will assess your skin, listen to your concerns, and tailor the session using our core treatments to give you the best outcome.

Which treatments can be included in a Signature?

Many of our treatments fit within the Signature timeframe, including LED, Hydro-Microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning, Lymphatic Enzyme and professional resurfacing. Your therapist will recommend the right approach once they see your skin.

How long does the Signature Treatment take?

Most Signature sessions run for 60 minutes, but we can adjust time based on your goals or upgrades. This allows us enough time to customise steps while keeping your experience relaxing and results-focused.

How often should I book the Signature Treatment?

For long-term results, most clients book every 4–6 weeks. This allows us to keep working on your skin goals while maintaining glow, hydration and balance.

Are there any contraindications?

The Signature is safe for most clients, but we may recommend delaying if you have active infection, recent sunburn, or are using certain prescription skincare. Your therapist will review this in consultation before starting.

👉 For full contraindications, please see our Signature Treatment page.

HydraFacial FAQ – Canberra

How much does HydraFacial cost in Canberra?

HydraFacial prices at Sibu Skin and Beauty range from $239 for the Signature to $339+ for Platinum. Enhancements like Perk Eye, Perk Lip and Lymphatic Drainage can be added for extra focus.

Is HydraFacial good for all skin types?

Yes — HydraFacial is designed for all skin types, including sensitive. It’s gentle, non-invasive, and customisable, so your therapist can adapt it on the day. There’s no downtime, just instantly fresh, glowing skin.

What skin concerns does HydraFacial treat?

HydraFacial targets acne, congestion, pigmentation, fine lines, uneven tone and dullness. The boosters are where it really shines — while the treatment is effective on its own, adding a booster lets us directly target your main concern for the best results.

Which HydraFacial should I book?

If you’re new, the Signature HydraFacial is a great starting point. But I’ll be honest — I almost always recommend the Deluxe. For a small step up, you get a customised Booster and LED Light Therapy, and LED is where the real results happen. If you want the most advanced option, go Platinum — it adds lymphatic drainage for clients who want maximum renewal and all-in-one rejuvenation.

How often should I book HydraFacial?

Most clients book every 4–6 weeks to maintain results. For specific concerns like acne or pigmentation, your therapist may suggest a more frequent plan initially.

Can I have a HydraFacial if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

HydraFacial is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the exfoliating acids (like glycolic and salicylic) used in the protocol. Some clinics offer modified, pregnancy-safe versions that omit these actives, but it’s always best to check with your healthcare provider. At Sibu Skin and Beauty, your therapist will review protocol options and ensure safety first.

Are there any contraindications for HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is safe for most clients, but there are times when we may recommend caution or delay (e.g. pregnancy, breastfeeding, sunburn, active infection, certain medications). See our HydraFacial page for the full list.

How often should I book HIFU?

Tanning FAQs

How long should I leave my tan on before rinsing?

Rinse after 1 hour for Ultra Dark, or 2 hours for other shades. This is only your first rinse — your colour will continue to develop over 6–8 hours for a flawless, natural finish.

What happens if I shower too soon?

Your tan may not develop fully, leaving you lighter than expected. Always wait the advised time before rinsing.

What if I get a crease in my tan?

Minor creases (from seatbelts, clothing, or lifting your arms) can often be gently blended at home. Keep skin hydrated and avoid tight clothing for the first 24 hours.

Why should I shave or wax 24 hours before my tan?

Shaving too close to your appointment can leave the skin sensitive and pores open, which may affect how evenly the tan develops. 24 hours gives your skin time to settle.

Can I exfoliate on the day of my tan?

It’s best to exfoliate the day before. Exfoliating on the day can make skin more sensitive and create uneven absorption.

What if it rains after my tan?

Rain or water can cause streaking while your tan is developing. If rain is likely, bring loose clothing and an umbrella to protect your fresh glow.

Nail FAQs

Do you charge for nail art per nail or per hand?

Our basic nail art pricing covers simple accents that can be completed within your booked service. More detailed designs (like French or custom nail art) require extra time and are charged accordingly.

How much time should I allow for nail art?

Basic nail art fits into your booked service time. For French or detailed designs, extra time is required — please share your inspiration via Instagram, Facebook, or email before your appointment so we can book the right slot.

What if I have gel or product from another salon?

We may need extra time for safe removal, and additional costs can apply. Please let us know when booking so we can allow enough time.

What is your cancellation policy?

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee as outlined in our Terms & Conditions.
